Choosing A Concealer

For all of us there are times when we have a bit more to
cover than our foundation will handles. A blemish, a dark
spot, dark circles under the eyes. That’s when a good
concealer comes in handy. Foundation is perfect for
evening out skin tone and providing overall skin coverage.
For those touch up spots a concealer is the answer.
There are a wide variety of concealers on the market. Some
concealers are too pink, too dry, too hard to apply.
Finding one that does the job for you may take some
experimentation.
How to apply your concealer

1. Match your concealer to your skin tone, be sure it
is no more than one shade lighter for the best results

2. For the best and most natural coverage apply your
foundation first, then apply your concealer to the flaw
areas and retouch foundation if needed.

3. Apply lightly, and add more as needed. Be sure it
doesn’t look caked and and unnatural. Blend thouroughly.

4. If you have dry skin apply a light moisturizer
prior to applying foundation and concealer.

5. Concealer is best applied with a small brush by
dabbing. For around the eyes you can use your fingers.

U2 Bono goes from Rock Star to Socially Concerned Fashion
Designer

U2s lead singer Bono isn’t content with being part of a top
band. Fashion and Music – well I’m sure they can mix!

Bono was born Paul David Hewson in 1960 in Dublin Ireland.
His stage name is Bono. Bono is the lead singer of US, he
is also a songwriter. He married Ali Stewart in August
1982 and they have 5 children. Bono is also actively
involved in as an activist and screenwriter.

Paul was a curious child who seemed to see the world from a
different perspective from the rest of the world. When
Paul was 15 he suffered the loss of his mother who he was
very close to. In high school Paul found himself drawn to
music and playing the guitar, spending a great deal of time
involved with the school theater. The name Bono was the
brain child of his close friend Guggi who took it from a
Hearing Aide store located in Dublin. Bono Vox also means
good voice in latin.

In 1976 a flyer was posted at his high school by Larry
Mullen who was looking to form a band. Paul was jumped at
the opportunity. The band became U2 which is now known
around the globe.

Ali Hewson [nee Alison Stewart] grew up in the suburbs of
north Dublin. She met Bono at high school. He tried to
chat her up but she ignored him. Over the years he
continued to pursue her. Their relationship moved very
slowly because Alison wasn’t interested in becoming one of
the Bono girls. After his mother died, Ali being the
practical person she is, helped Bono with the essentials
like food and clothing. Ali was 22 when they wed. Click to

Spring Fashion Etiquette

Spring can be a busy time – more events to attend, more
outings to go to. So what’s the right fashion etiquette
for the occasion? Get together in the near future?

A re-union? Try something in a festive jewel tone and be
sure to finish your look with some fabulous shoes and hand
bag and don’t forget the jewelry. Add earrings and a
necklace to finish your look.

A baptism – you’re the godmother? Try a soft flowing skirt
and a cap sleeve blouse. Or how about a nice light shift
topped with a print jacket. You’ll look stylish but you
won’t be over done. Pay attention to the shoes on your
feet – classy but comfort is important because you’ll be
standing for a while. Add some light jewelry, a pair of
baguette studs and a chain and you’ll be ready.

A date for high tea? Although the formality of white
gloves is gone it is still important to dress nicely. Do
not wear jeans or a sloppy shirt. If the high tea is an
informal meeting then pants with a nice light jacket is
spring colors is appropriate. If high tea is to honor
someone then step it up a notch with a nice light skirt and
top, or a nice light dress with jacket. Some funky jewelry
for the casual get together or more elegant jewelry for the
more formal get together. Click to continue reading this

Floral Prints for this Season

Spring is in the air and floral fabrics are on the runway.
Inspired by the 18th century Victorian era, these
upholstery style prints are sweeping the runways and your
local boutiques. We are seeing prints taken from wall
paper designs such as the Katsushika Hokusai floral wood
block print from 1834, the fourteenth century lotus flower
silk hanging scroll, Martin Johnson Heade’s Study of an
orchid dating to 1872, Klimt’s Mada Primavesi from 1912,
and prints from the renaissance era with fabulous large
florals. But wait, lets not forget the prints from the
hippie era which have been entwined into the past, present,
and future. Inspired by tradition from eras long gone,
recreated by designers for trendy modern fashion
statements.

These wonderful fabrics work for everyone, every age group
and every figure. The prints range from bold and graphic
to soft subtle and very Victorian. Perfect for an
ultra-feminine spring look. How to wear them is simple.
Mix bold with simple – contrast is important. Don’t dress
from head to toe in a bold floral. Think of yourself as a
flower garden with garden variety. Click to continue

Gold In Civilizations

This precious metal fuels many men's greed and lust. It's

powerful symbol of wealth that many in today's society and
ancient civilizations could not live without. Gold
controls
the monetary trading system and is the number one
ingredient
in jewelry.

Since ancient civilizations started worshipping its
strength
and beauty, gold has turned nations against each other and
inspired artesian to lavishly adorn the wealthiest bodies
and their surroundings. The history of gold in society
shows time and time again the crazy lengths society is
willing to go to possess this rare metal. For example,
pharaohs actually worshipped gold and took it to their
death
in hopes of buying their way into the afterlife. Also, the
Spanish went out on missions over the edge of the horizon
to
find gold and bring it back for their sponsor.

Some of the more ancient references to gold include "the
sweat of the Sun" according to the Incas. Just like the
Incas, many civilizations valued gold for its resemblance
to
the sun. To appease the Sun God, many cultures began
sacrificial ceremonies with the victims wrapped in gold
adornments. Since only the wealthiest could afford to
indulge in golden pleasures, royalty hired many of the best
goldsmiths. During the eras before the fall of the Roman
Empire, anything that was considered a treasure was covered
with gold, dressed up with gold, or carved out of gold.
About the time of the Roman Empire's demise, gold mining
was
nearly tapped out and productions from raw gold were not to
be found until almost 1000 years later.

When the Spanish traveler Cortez came upon the Americas in
the 1500s and stole the Mexican's treasured gold,
productions in gold regained speed. Again, when
California's Gold Rush exposed veins of gold along the West
Coast and later up in Yukon Territory, gold took on a new
dimension. This rush permitted even the most common person
to own a piece of gold. If you could find a big enough
nugget, you could enter a lifestyle reserved for only the
upper echelon. After the gold rush of the mid 1800s, over
90% of the world's population of gold has been produced.

Today, more veins of gold occasionally surface.
Discoveries
of gold in Australia and South Africa have increased the
market for gold again. In Italy, for example, many
goldsmiths are returning to "knit" gold into sculptures and
other monuments.

The main use for the world's gold is to back currency.
This
is done by simply storing gold bars in secure locations.
Otherwise, gold jewelry is a premier use for gold. The
gold
in jewelry is valued by karat, weight in grams, and the
craftsmanship of the design. Yellow gold was once the
standard gold used in jewelry; today many people prefer
the newer white gold.

What is the difference between white and yellow gold? When
mined, gold is yellow. Gold is usually mixed with an alloy
of nickel or zinc. White gold is pure gold that is mixed
with an alloy of nickel and palladium.

What is the enduring quality of gold over the centuries?
As
the ancient philosopher Pihder said over 2500 years ago,
"Gold is the child of Zeus, neither moth or rust devour
it."

Trifari

Founded by Gustavo Trifari and his uncle in 1910, Trifari
was first known as “Trifari and Trifari”. Gustavo’s uncle
departed from the company a few years later and the company
then became known as “Trifari”. In 1917 Leo Krussman
joined Trifari, in 1925 Carl Fishel joined Trifari as the
head of the sales department. The company was then renamed
“Trifari, Krussman, and Fishel.”

Trifari is rich in history.

From 1910 to 1975 Trifari was ran by the originating
founders and sons of those founders
In 1975 Trifari was purchased by Hallmark Jewelry Co.
In 1988 Trifari was purchased by Crystal Brands
In 1994 Trifari was purchased by Chase Capital Partners, a
Lattice Holding Co., a division of the Monet Group
In 2000 the Monet Group, was purchased by Liz Claiborne.
Liz Claiborne then moved operations to Puerto Rico
Trifari, is now an off shore operation

In the early part of 1930 Afred Philippe joined Trifari as
head designer. He was a top notch designer who had worked
with companies such as Cartier. Philippe was instrumental
in turning Trifari into a profitable company in just a few
years. His designs in the art deco period were extremely
popular and because he was able to work with less expensive
metals he was able to design the overly large flower pins
and the fruit salad jewelry.

The Fashion of Earrings Timeline

Earrings – I think of them as the finishing touch to your
look. They complete your fashion statement. There are
earrings for all occasions – the board room, work, casual
outings, your wedding, a night on the town, or a day at the
beach. They can bring out your softer feminine side, the
sexy goddess, or present simple charm, sophistication and
elegance.

From Elizabeth Taylor to Meg Ryan to Dave Navarro to Usher
– today earrings are a fashion statement for both men and
women. The first pair of earrings has been dated back to
2500 BC. Only the wealth and those of royal lines could
afford expensive jewelry back then.

There are all types of earrings – chandelier earrings,
dangle earrings, hoop earrings, stud earrings, button
earrings, and droplet earrings to name just a few. Earrings
come in all types of materials and metals. Gold, silver,
gemstones, plastics, bakelite, copper, diamonds, paste,
pearls, faux stones, or glass. The list goes on and on.
What ever your desires there is a pair of earrings out
there waiting for you.
