Cannetille pendant with emerald center. 1 1/4" sterling silver pendent with raw cut gem center. Excellent condition with a few of the strands slightly mishapen. Needs a jump ring so you can attach your chain. Worthy of addition to a collection or wardrobe!
Cannetille works arose from the early 19th century when gold was scarce as the populace was encouraged to donate their gold toward the war efforts in association with Napoleon and his campaigns. Thin and fine gold or sterling silver were worked to form intricate designs. Very labor intensive so it died out and was never really found again in the jewelry world. Cannetille work dates to circa 1830-40 and was occasionally seen at later dates.
