Choosing The Right Wedding Accessories
Choosing The Right Wedding Accessories
Your big day is approaching quickly and you need to take of some important wardrobe challenges such as choosing the right wedding accessories. Read on for some great advice.
Wedding Shoe Shopping
When shopping for wedding shoes try to match the material of the shoe to the bridal gown fabric as closely as possible. The design of the shoe should be complementary to the gowns design. If possible a nice finishing touch is to have the wedding shoes decorated with the same details as the wedding gown. Make certain the shoes fit properly, comfort is absolutely critical for your wedding day because you're going to be wearing them all day and evening, plus you'll be dancing in them. I always recommend purchasing shoes a half-size larger shoe to wear on her wedding day and purchasing a second style shoe that you can wear to the reception.
Make sure you break in your bridal shoes before the wedding. For a full week prior to your wedding wear the shoes on and off for a few hours inside the house. If the soles are very smooth and you are concerned about slipping, lightly sand the soles to make them slightly abrasive.
Bridal Hosiery
The type of stockings will depend completely on the style and fabric of the wedding gown. They should compliment the gown and will vary according to sheerness, sheen, and pattern. If you are wanting to accent an ornate pair of shoes than your hosiery should be plain and sheer. Try to match the wedding dress color - ivory, cream, white, etc.
Headgear for the bride and bridesmaids
The type of headgear you choose as the bride will depend a great deal on the style of your gown, the style of your hear and the type of wedding, You can go for a traditional veil, tierra, flower headband, jewels in your hair or a host of other options. If your bridesmaids are going to be wearing headgear then be certain it does not overpower your headgear.
Distinquishing Gloves
Gloves are classified by length, measured by the number of inches, or buttons, the glove reaches above the thumb. A one-button glove stops just below the palm and is worn with a long-sleeve gown. A two-button glove ends at the wrist and is also known as a wristlet or gauntlet. A six-button glove falls below the elbow and is also known as a quarter-length glove and looks best worn with a short-sleeve gown. An eight-button glove reaches to the elbow and is worn with short-sleeve dresses. Also known as opera-length gloves, the sixteen-button glove reaches to the top of the arm and is worn gathered. The sixteen-button glove is worn with a sleeveless or strapless wedding gown.
Gloves come in many different materials from kid leather to silk to matte cotton to sheer. The brides gloves should match her wedding gown. White with white, ivory with ivory. If the bride chooses to wear gloves then she should also wear them while greeting guests in the receiving line as well as dancing the special dances at the reception.
Wearing gloves can present a bit of a problem when exchanging wedding rings. If you wear short gloves you can remove your gloves and pass them to your maid of honor. If you wear long, elbow-length gloves, an old trick is to open the seams of the ring finger and tuck the fabric inside to expose the ring finger.
Remember to remove your gloves while eating at the reception, to prevent possibility of any food stains on the gloves.
Brides Handbag
Almost all brides use a handbag on their wedding day, they just don't carry it down the aisle. The handbag is carried by the bride's mother or the maid of honor. A handbag that matches to your dress is fitting. Fabric, lace, and pearl handbags are all very popular.
The Correct Undergarments For the Bride's Gown
The correct undergarments will enhance the bride's figure and improve the fit of her gown. A corset is a strapless bustier that fits to the waistline. A merry widow is a corset with slightly longer length and garters to hold stockings. If your gown is not constructed with an attached petticoat you may want to purchase a petticoat to provide the desired fullness. The more petticoats the fuller the skirt becomes.
